Anonymous Mode
Anonymous Mode is SuperCards' most private setting. When enabled, no data ever leaves your device, not even for backups.
What Anonymous Mode Does
Disables: QR code backups and system backups (iCloud/Google).
Deletes: Any existing encrypted backups stored on our servers. This makes any previously created backup links or QR codes invalid.
Keeps working: All app functionality (adding cards, scanning, editing, etc.), offline operation, local storage and encryption, and widgets and watch apps.
How to Enable Anonymous Mode
Open SuperCards, tap the cloud icon at the top left of the app, scroll down, and tap "Switch to Anonymous Mode" at the bottom of the screen (below the barcode).
Important Notes
Backups are disabled: You cannot create QR code backups while Anonymous Mode is on. System backups (iCloud/Google) are also disabled. If you lose your device, your cards are lost forever.
Existing backups deleted: Activating Anonymous Mode permanently deletes any encrypted backups stored on our servers. Any backup links or QR codes you previously created will no longer work.
To transfer cards to a new device: Turn OFF Anonymous Mode, create a QR code backup, and restore it on the new device. Only turn it back ON once the restore is confirmed complete. Re-enabling deletes the backup, so doing it too early can leave you without a copy.
Should I Use Anonymous Mode?
Use Anonymous Mode if:
Privacy is your top priority, you don't need to transfer cards to other devices, you're willing to manually re-add cards if device is lost/broken, and you have screenshots of your cards or your plastic cards stored somewhere safe.
Don't use Anonymous Mode if:
You want your cards backed up, you want automatic backups, or you frequently switch devices.
