QR Code Backup (Most Reliable)
This is the method we always recommend. It creates an encrypted backup of all your cards that you can use on any device.
How to Create a QR Code Backup
Step 1: Open SuperCards and tap the cloud icon at the top of the screen.
Step 2: A QR code and a link appear instantly. Now save it somewhere safe.
We recommend one of these methods:
- Email the link to yourself (best option: you can access it from any device)
- Take a screenshot of the QR code and keep it in your phone's photo gallery
- Save the QR code screenshot in an email to yourself as an attachment
- Save the link in your notes app
- Save it to your password manager
Important: Don't just take a screenshot and forget about it. Make sure you know where to find it! We recommend emailing it to yourself so you can access it even if you lose your phone.
That's it! Your backup is created. The whole process takes about 30 seconds.
How to Restore Your Cards
On your new phone:
Step 1: Install SuperCards if you haven't already.
Step 2: Open the backup you saved:
- If you emailed it: Open the email and tap the link
- If you took a screenshot: Use your phone's camera app (or any QR scanner app) to scan the QR code from the screenshot
- The link works too: Just tap it
Step 3: SuperCards opens automatically and restores all your cards. Done!
What Gets Saved in the Backup
Your QR code backup includes:
- All your cards (names, numbers, barcodes)
- Custom labels
- Notes you've added
- Photos attached to cards
- Card colors (for custom cards)
- Your sort preferences
Not included: App lock settings (these are managed by your phone's operating system, not SuperCards).
Important Things to Know
You only need one backup, ever: The code and link are permanent. They never expire or change, even as you add or remove cards, and always pull your latest cards. Save it once (emailing it to yourself is best) and you're set.
Restoring is one-time, not a live sync: Restoring copies your cards across at that moment. Changes made on your old device afterwards won't appear automatically on the new one.
Keep it safe: It's encrypted and impossible to guess, but anyone with your link can restore your cards, so don't share it publicly.
Anonymous Mode users: Anonymous Mode deletes your server backup. To transfer, turn it off, create the backup, and finish restoring on the new device. Only re-enable it once the restore is confirmed complete. Otherwise you can be left with no copy of your data.
